Silicone and Oil - A Messy Combo

23rd Mar 2015

Being that a good portion of our customers are either employed in the automotive service industry or are involved in the hobby of upgrading vehicles in some form, one of the most frequently asked questions we hear is in regards to whether or not our silicone hoses or tubes are suitable or compatible with oil and fuel. Unfortunately, most aren't.

Because most silicone breaks down under the chemicals inherent in automotive oil and fuel sources, silicone tubes and hoses and their use under those conditions is not advisable. However, we do offer lining options within our custom department that stand up to the deleterious qualities of such chemicals, allowing for more extended uses for performance silicone hose under the hood. Offering superior chemical resistance, our specialized fluorocarbon and fluorosilicone liners are the preferred option for those seeking silicone tubes for automotive use. Our engineering department, after years of finding solutions for our customers in various industries, has the knowledge required for finding the perfect solution to your silicone tube and hose problem.

Whether its use with oil or fuel that requires our special attention and skill or an alternative use within either the food industry, in aerospace applications or in general manufacturing, if there's an issue that's holding you back from using silicone tubes as an alternative, we strive to do our best to find the optimal solution.
