Trust and rely on the silicone hoses with in-house finished goods testing at Flex Technologies!

Flex Technologies levels up the silicone hose industry by not only testing our raw materials but our finished goods as well. So the silicone hose you have shipped to your door has been rigorously tested to ensure a product that is durable and long-lasting.

Curious about switching to silicone hoses? Now is the time to do it! Flex Technologies provides state-of-the-line silicone hose products that serve a wide range of industries and applications. Learn more about our in-house finished goods testing in today’s post.

The Industry’s Best Practices Passed On To You!

There are typical silicone hoses, and then there are the high-quality silicone hoses from Flex Technologies. When you collaborate with us, you know exactly what you’re getting — there is no guesswork involved. With many companies, you may place your order and receive the item and that’s it, but Flex Technologies supports you throughout — from the initial design (if you’re creating a custom hose) to any questions or tips after you receive it.

Silicone hose products are our business and they have been for the last two decades. We implement best practices and beyond, for a product that has longevity and reliability. One of the ways we make an even better silicone hose is through our in-house finished goods testing process. We do it right here in our Torrence facility, so we know the exact quality of our products that are going out.

In-House Finished Goods Testing - Silicone Hoses

What exactly is finished goods testing? While tests will vary in each industry, at Flex Technologies we have a set of tests that we perform after the testing of the raw materials has been performed, but before we release the product to businesses and the public. The silicone hose product has been made, it just needs to be subjected to this final testing to ensure it’s of the highest quality and a product that Flex Technologies can stand behind.

Heat Aging

Heat aging determines the scope of temperatures a product can function within while still remaining functional and in-tact over time. The heat accelerates the aging process and simulates conditions the silicone hose may be subject to in its lifetime.

Coolant Immersion

Coolant immersion can be a series of tests to explore how the silicone performs under a variety of conditions. From its freeze point and appearance to its point of failure, this test was designed to ensure that your silicone hose can operate in specific cold extremes.

Oil Immersion

Silicone hoses are subject to a variety of liquids, including oil. And while it’s very likely you’ll need a fluorocarbon-lined hose to accommodate oils, oil immersion tests for how compatible silicone is with different types of oils such as engine and automotive oils.

Burst Testing (Fluid and Air)

A burst test is an integral test because it examines how much fluid or air it would take for a silicone hose to burst.

Adhesion

Adhesion tests measure the adhesive characteristics of silicone or the “stickiness” of how the material that’s transported through silicone interacts with the hose itself.

Many silicone hoses also have liners and an adhesion test can see how well the different materials are reinforced or bonded.

Abrasion

Abrasion testing explores the ability of silicone to resist scraping, rubbing, erosion, etc. from its surface.

Bend Radius

The bend radius takes into account how much stress a silicone hose can endure at a sharp or bent angle. When a hose goes beyond its rated bend radius it can kink, gain wear and tear much faster, and restrict the flow of the material.

Vacuum

Some rigidity is important for silicone hoses, especially if they’re subject to negative levels of pressure. Vacuum testing examines how well a silicone hose can perform at optimum functionality under vacuum conditions.
