Why Go Stock when You Can Go Silicone?

15th Jan 2015

Anybody who has ever had an engine hose fail on them understands how much the problem can affect your day and your wallet. It can also wreak havoc on your car's engine. Broken or leaking radiator hoses can cause it to overheat, an intercooler, or CAC, hose that fails can result in loss of power and cracked crankcase hoses allow for poor performance and increased levels of engine deterioration.

Car professionals everywhere have begun to understand the difference that performance silicone hoses can make in a car's engine. Though normally viewed as exclusive to performance-type engines, even stock engines from the vehicle's manufacturer can experience better performance with silicone hoses. Buyers of used vehicles can help protect the life of their investment by replacing stock hoses with those made of silicone as it is recognized as highly durable, resistant to chemicals and high temperatures and should last the entire life of the vehicle.

When custom engine components are installed in an effort to boost performance and increase torque, the hoses that run between these components become vitally important. Acting much like arteries between these components, stock hoses become stressed with the extra horsepower and are more likely to give way and crack or split. Silicone hoses are much better equipped to handle the higher temperatures and elevated pressure created within high-performance engines. Silicone hoses are also recommended to those whose vehicles are used to carry heavy loads and tow trailers on a routine basis. Anytime your engine is placed under extreme conditions or is under strain, silicone hoses can help the life of it.
