How Many Times Can a Homebrewer Reuse a Silicone Hose?

24th Nov 2014

Did you get a chance to read our last couple of blogs yet? If you did, then you already know that silicone hoses are a wonderful option if you brew your own beer. They can safely and effective transfer hot wort without being leeched by the heat. Silicone is a great option for home-brewers everywhere, but we often get one specific question, "How many times can you safely reuse your silicone hose?"

The silicone hoses that we offer here at Flex Technologies are designed for a wide variety of uses, and you never worry about home-brewing pushing our hoses beyond their limits. Keeping your silicone tubing clean is completely up to you, but as long as you do that, you can safely use your hose again and again. If you are unsure about whether an older hose is still in good condition, all you have to do is cut off a small piece, cut it in half, and then inspect it for signs of wear and tear. If you notice any signs of cracking or a build up or calcium oxalate (beer stones) on the inside of your tube, then it is probably time to order a new one. If your hose appears to be clean and free from cracks, there is absolutely no reason to waste a good hose!

Now that you know that you can rely on a good silicone hose for your home brewing system time and time again, it is time for you to change the way that you brew and order your silicone tubing from Flex Technologies!
