Silicone Hoses: Common Home Brew Issues & Fixes

24th Dec 2015

As a premier source for those needing silicone hoses for their home brew set ups, we get to hear a lot of feedback from customers about how their home brews are going. Brewing beer at home is a fun and rewarding hobby and a great way to cut beer costs! While we know that it can take a few tries to get things right - trust us, we've heard some stories! - there are a few common home brew problems that can be mitigated if you know what to look for and how to fix them!

A common problem with home brewing your own beer is popping open a bottle only to realize that there isn't any carbonation or fizz. While your beer may taste flat (but not necessarily bad), it's best to learn how to prevent this! Lack of carbonation is usually due to the fact that there wasn't enough sugar added during the brewing process or possibly because you've kept the beer in an area that's too cold. Try not to store your beer in areas where the temperature drops below 65 degrees.

Another common home brew issue we hear about is an odd, unexpected taste. You may not quite even be able to put your finger on what the issue is, but you know something isn't quite right. Normally this is caused by an issue with the yeast not fermenting as long as it needs to. However, it can also be caused by storing your brew in bottles that are too lightly colored or bottles that have been exposed to a lot of light.

Trial and error, friends! Trial and error!
